Since June 2024, I’ve been conducting weekly 1:1 digital art lessons for a learner with autism. Each session is customised to their interests, abilities, and creative goals, with the focus on building both artistic skills and personal confidence.
We use an iPad and Procreate as the main tools, blending traditional art foundations with digital techniques.
Lessons include:
• Drawing & illustration – portrait and figure drawing, landscapes, perspective.

• Character design – developing original characters with unique traits and styles.
• Storyboarding & visual storytelling – planning scenes and narratives through sequential art.
• Animation – exploring movement through frame-by-frame animation and rotoscoping.
• Art history explorations – learning from artists such as Warhol, Haring, Picasso, and the Impressionists.
• Creative play – experimenting with mythological creatures, hybrid animals, and abstract compositions.
• Digital art techniques – using layers, textures, colouring methods, and brushes to expand creative possibilities.
The result is not just individual artworks, but a growing portfolio of personal projects – from original characters to imaginative worlds and short animations – that reflect their unique voice and perspective.
